Evaluations: Summary (Ranked Ballot) 2
Ranked Ballot GV and CHPV Elections (continued)
- The teaming index for a GV system is the proportion of all the possible scenarios on a cloning map that result in successful teaming when both the cloning and non-cloning parties are tied prior to cloning.
- The teaming index for a GV system is equal to its common ratio (r).
- A teaming threshold is simultaneously a teaming effect and success threshold; as all parties are initially tied.
- A teaming effect threshold is the boundary between cloning giving rise to teaming or to vote splitting.
- A teaming success threshold is the boundary between cloning altering the election outcome or not.
- When the parties are not initially tied, a teaming effect threshold and a teaming success threshold are no longer combined into one synonymous teaming threshold.
- Areas on a cloning map between these two separate and independent thresholds represent scenarios where cloning has generated an effect (teaming or vote splitting) but where this effect fails to alter the election outcome.
- When cloning from an increasingly trailing position, the chances of teaming being successful steadily diminish.
- When cloning from an increasingly leading position, the chances of vote splitting being successful steadily diminish.
